Personally, I think this module is very important to me as a Semester 1 student. It is through this module that I learnt the mechanics of the components in a constructed structure.
One of the topic I am most interested about is Roof. I did not know about such variety of roofing systems until I reached this chapter. I am amazed by the complexity of various roofing systems and how each one of them differ from one another. Even more complicated is the arrangement of rafters and purlins in different kinds of walls.
Besides that, it was interesting to learn about doors and windows. Before being introduces to this module, I had no idea that so many types of doors and windows existed! All I knew was that doors are, well, doors. Now I can name each and every door and window with their respective names. I also started looking for more details in doors and windows I stumble upon, especially on the way they open, and also their dimensions and functions.
In conclusion, this is a very good module as a start of my journey in the construction industry.
