This is a practical module that involves 2 major fieldworks. I learnt about what site surveying is and the basics of carrying out field works. Throughout the semester we learnt two major things: Levelling and Traversing.

Levelling is done with an auto-level. This activity functions mainly to calculate the reduce levels of the site. We did the field work and worked out a report.

Next is Traversing. It is significantly more difficult to accomplish as it utilises a Theodolite instead of an auto-level. Setting up take more effort as it requires more precision. In our field work we aim to calculate the distances between points by using the stadia readings taken.

Below are the readings and adjustment of our Traversing:

Reflection:

Aside from learning the theory of site surveying, we got the opportunity to go hands-on with the various instruments involved, and used them to collect our own readings and prepare a report. I am sure these practical knowledge will be beneficial to us in the industry.
