Estimating is a module relatively new to us, as there were no previous modules similar to this. In this module we learnt to estimate the prices for a tender as a contractor. This process is of utmost importance as an inaccurate tender will cost the contractor the job, or if an underpriced tender accepted, the contractor will risks defaulting while carrying out the works.

The process of estimating takes into account various factors such as the cost of labour and labour output, the cost of materials and their wastage, the cost of hiring machinery and so on.

Our major assignment for this module put our skills to the test we as estimated the price for each elements in the building. Nevertheless we arrived at the suitable pricing for the tender.

I would like to thank all my group mates for helping each other out during the process, and not forgetting the valuable guidance and advice given by our lecturer Ms Azrina throughout this semester.

Regards,
Pang Khai Shuen
