In this final measurement module before our internship, we learnt about the external works for a building such as surface water drainage, sewer drainage, road and pavement, and water reticulation, including the measurement techniques for cast-insitu concrete piles.

One of the major chapters in this semester is the surface water drainage, which includes 3 items to be measured: Surface water drain, pipe culvert, and sumps. The drawings bellow illustrated the typical cross section of a sump.

In a nutshell, this module completes our knowledge on taking off quantities for a building. With our final assignment, we managed to do a complete taking off for a project, wrapping up the 4 semesters of measurement modules.

I would like to express my gratitude towards my group mates for working hard and not giving up during the assignments even though it is really though. Lastly and most importantly we appreciate the dedication of our lecturer, Sr Loo, for guiding us and making sure we understand every chapter throughout this semester.

Regards,
Pang Khai Shuen
